We will meet the Smart SUV in the middle of the year, although we will not see it on the road until 2023. Everything indicates that it will have an image similar to the one we show you.
During the past Munich Motor Show in 2021, what would be the Smart SUVs to lead the restart of his new era after his departure a few months ago.
And it is that Geely bought 50% of Smart from Daimler in 2019 with the aim of gaining a foothold in Europe, a strategy that began with the union with Volvo (a full merger was attempted in early 2021, but did not come to fruition) a few years ago.
Thus the things, the new Smart (official name is not yet known) will be a completely SUV electric that will keep a image very similar to the concept, judging by some leaks from the various patent offices where compliance has been requested and that you can see in the main photo.
Hence it is known that with 4.29 meters in length, maintains the size of SmartConcept #1, the large 21″ wheels and the panoramic roof, although it loses details of the show car (in the photos below) such as the headlights, which are larger to comply with current regulations, or the opposite opening rear doors.
Smart’s new SUV will use the SEA platform (Sclabale Electric Architecture) from Geely, which has various sizes (including a commercial version) and which will also use Volvo, Lynk & Co or Polestar.
This SEA platform carries the batteries between the wheels and allows capacities between 58 and 68 kWh, which would allow him to speak of a autonomy of Smart SUVs between 360 and 440 km.
As for the engines, everything seems to indicate that in principle it will have a single option of 204 hp, although the SEA is capable of accommodating thrusters up to 400 kW (536 hp), so some more powerful variant close to 250 hp could arrive.
The date of your presentation is scheduled for the second half of 2022, just like assure our colleagues from Motor.es (who have also provided us with the render above), so Smart’s SUV will be seen on the road around the first third of 2023.
