With the opening of economic and civil activities, everything settled into a new normality and, in 2022, the sector that grew the most was once again oil and gas, with sales growth of 58.7%.
The logic of the reopening is verified with a rebound of 58.3% in the entertainment sector. Cinépolis, for example, had an increase in its net sales of 63.8% per year, in 2022, the increase was 58.3% in the case of Cinemex.
Electronic commerce, however, continued to grow; revealing that some consumption habits are here to stay. In 2022, this sector had a growth of 57.7% in its sales.
In fourth place were airport services, followed by airlines, hotels and tourism, games and raffles, construction, financial services, and restaurants.
Overall, the variation in sales of ‘Las 500’ –as usual- was higher than the growth of the Gross Domestic Product of Mexico (GDP). In 2022, the Mexican economy expanded 3.1% annually; while ‘Las 500’ grew its net sales by 7.7%.
