“The Russian occupiers are fighting objective coverage of their war crimes in Ukraine, at least 35 journalists have already been injured,” Denisova explained, according to the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
He also indicated that “many informants were injured by targeted enemy bombing,” referring to the Russian Army, which began the invasion of the neighboring country on February 24.
The Ukrainian politician referred to the attack suffered by a vehicle conveniently marked as “press” of the Swiss journalist Guillaume Bricke, wounded by Russian shots while driving towards Mikolaiv.
Two other reporters for the Czech edition of Voxpot, Maida Slamova and Vojtech Bogach, were also attacked by Russian troops, according to Denisova.
And two Danish correspondents for Ekstra Bladet, Stefan Weichert (journalist) and Emil Filtenborg Mikkelsen (photographer-reporter), suffered gunshot wounds.
Russian troops also attacked the British television group Sky News. Chief correspondent Stuart Ramsay and his four colleagues were ambushed on their way back to kyiv.
“The murder and bombing of journalists is a serious violation of the Hague Conventions and Declarations, the Geneva Convention for the Protection of War Victims and its Additional Protocols,” Denisova recalled.
It also contravenes the Convention on the Laws and Customs of War on Land, which establishes security for journalists.
