The name of PC Game Pass hides a good reason, and the directive Jason beaumont has explained it in an interview with ROG Global. Now we know why is this change coming (although we could imagine it).
Beaumont admits that, from the beginning, They always called the PC Game Pass service from the inside.. He assures that they changed the name because it led to confusion for many users.
This manager confirms that many believed they needed an Xbox to subscribe to the service, and that, in addition, sometimes people did not differentiate both services.
”It is the same catalog of games. It’s always a sign when everyone says something internally with a name, but then externally, you’re calling it with a different name (laughing). Finally, someone said, ‘Why don’t we call it that?”
We already know that Microsoft finally opted for the most logical decision, announcing the name change during the 2021 Game Awards.
”We had this user confusion, so it was like, let’s just change the name. Let’s keep it simple. PC Game Pass is”
Although to a lesser extent, the claim that Microsoft already called it PC Game Pass since before it is something that we did not know. The same is true of the possibility that GTA 3 off Xbox exclusive, for example.
