The reliability of Tesla cars again wins the daily agenda with the news that the brand is recalling almost a thousand of its vehicles in the United States.
The problem, this time, is because the rear view mirror image does not immediately show the images when the car reverses, it publishes Reuters.
Tesla did not spread the problem, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the United States, the agency in charge of the control.
According to NHTSA, the electric-car maker told the NHTSA that the recall involves some 2018 and 2019 Model S and Model X years.
Also, Model 3 cars from the years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
In all cases, the problem would be on vehicles equipped with Autopilot Computer 2.5.
According to the NHTSA, the cars do not meet safety regulations regarding rear visibility.
Tesla is going to update the software to fix the problem.
Apparently, the camera image that shows what happens in the back of recalled vehicles is “delayed”causing the driver to see something that happened seconds before, seriously increasing the risk of an accident.
In late 2021, Tesla identified an “abnormal reset frequency” in the computer of some vehicles.
After confirming what was happening, he gave notice of withdrawal from the market on March 18 to the NHTSA.
Tesla, the camera and the autopilot
It is a new recall of Tesla cars, after the brand has had to repair other models due to software problems in the last year.
One of the most serious developments was known in January, when the driver of a Tesla was charged with a “serious crime” who, with the autopilot on, collided with a Honda Civic and killed its occupants.
Following a fatal crash in California, a Tesla driver is the first to face felony charges. The responsibility of him when he used the autopilot is evaluated.
The defendant was driving a Tesla Model S and did not respect a traffic light that was red. It happened in 2019.
The balance was fatal for the two passengers of the Honda, while the driver and his passenger suffered injuries.
