Despite the shortage of units, the Playstation 5 it is still selling great. Thanks to the financial report regarding the last fiscal quarter of Sony, it has been revealed that the company’s new console has surpassed the general sales of the Wii Ubut supply problems have affected forecasts for the end of the fiscal year.
During his report, Sony revealed that the PlayStation 5 has surpassed 17.3 million units sold by December 31, 2021, this thanks to the sale of 3.9 million consoles in the last quarter. By comparison, the PS4 had raked in 20.2 million during the same time period. However, it must be remembered that the shortage of chips has complicated the production of the new hardware.

For its part, the PS4 has reached 116.8 million units, thanks to 200 thousand consoles sold in the last three months. Production problems have not only prevented the PS5 from catching up with its predecessor, but sales forecasts have gone from 22 million by the end of the fiscal year, to 19.3 million by March 31, 2022.
On related topics, analysts have pointed out that the PS5 will sell twice as much as the Xbox Series X | S this year. Similarly, Sony assures that it did not increase the production of the PS4 due to the shortage of the PS5.
