The price of tortillas rose in some Mexican cities as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Guadalajara, Chetumal and Reynosa are the three cities where there was a greater increase in the price of a kilo of tortillas.

The consequences of the Russia-Ukraine conflict continue to escalate and, now, the price of tortillas has increased in some cities in Mexico.

On other issues, 18 days after the Russian invasion began, some consequences are beginning to be felt, such as the increase in gasoline prices, a fact that will even affect Uber users in Spain for the time being. United States and Canada, and it is not ruled out that it could also reach Mexico.
This is how the price of tortillas has increased
In this context, some cities in Mexico, such as Guadalajara, Chetumal, Tijuana, Monterrey, Hermosillo, among others, have reported therise in the price of tortilla derived from the conflict that is currently going on between Russia and Ukraine.
According to information from the National Market Information and Integration System (SNIIM), in 10 of the 49 cities in Mexico, the price of tortillas has suffered an increase in prices.
Mexicali, Tijuana, Guadalajara, Tepic, Chetumal, Monterrey, Hermosillo, Reynosa, Tampico and Veracruz These are the cities that, so far, have registered an increase in the price of a kilo of tortilla.
Information from the SNIIM indicates that in three of the 10 cities mentioned the increase was significant, being the city of Guadalajara, in the state of Jalisco, where the highest price of tortilla was registered.
On February 25, shortly after the invasion of Ukraine began, the price of a kilo of tortilla was 16 pesos and by March 14 this was already 20 pesos per kilothat is, an increase of 25 percent in just a few days.
Chetumal, Quintana Roo, is the second city with the highest increase, since the kilo of tortilla increased by up to 10 percent, going from 20 to 22 pesos per kilogram.
For its part, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, the kilo of tortilla has undergone two changes since the beginning of the invasion in Ukraine. As of today, the price is 22.75 pesos, registering an increase of 8.3 percent in recent weeks.
Now, in Mexico City, the price is still maintained at 18 pesos per kilo, although it is not ruled out that, as the war escalates even more, it will increase in price.
Russia and Ukraine are two corn-producing countries, this being one of the main foods for Mexicans. During the first 15 days of February, the price of tortillas already suffered an increase of 18 percent, according to data from the Inegi, considered the largest increase in more than 10 years.
