Since last year, it was mentioned that batman would have multiple spin-off series, including one starring the Penguin. At the time, this information was more of a rumor, and not something so official, but today it was confirmed that hbo max gave the green light to the project that is currently known simply as ThePenguin.

According to information from The Hollywood Reporter, HBO Max has already officially authorized the production of this new series, where we will find out what will happen to this villain after the events of the film. Evidently, Colin Farrell will resume his role as the Penguinand in recent statements, the actor mentioned the following:
“The world that Matt Reeves built for The Batman is one that warrants a much deeper look through the eyes of Oswald Cobblepot. He couldn’t be more excited to continue Oz’s exploration as he rises through this dark world to become The Penguin. It will be nice to return to the streets of Gotham for a little more madness and a little more mayhem.”
Beyond knowing that this project does exist, we do not have any other additional details such as its release date, number of episodes or any other that may be of interest to us. What we do know is that this will not be the only spin-off series of batman, since another focused on Arkham Asylum is also already in development.
Publisher’s note: Although I loved this version of the Penguin, the fact that he is going to have his own series still does not convince me. The character played a big part in the movie, and I think it might be interesting to see how he ends up becoming this much more defined villain, but he’s still skeptical of the project.
