It is since 35 years ago that the Oscars do not have three people in front of the gala.
The last woman to host the ceremony was Ellen DeGeneres, who did so to relatively favorable reviews in 2014.
Since DeGeneres’ second stint, organizers have recruited Neil Patrick Harris, Chris Rock and Jimmy Kimmel.
The 94th edition of the Academy Awards began to be history this Sunday, March 27, after being hosted for the first time by three women. Actress Regina Hall and Emmy-winning comedians Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes are hosting the Oscars that began with a very feminist message.
The last woman to host the ceremony was Ellen DeGeneres, who did so to relatively favorable reviews in 2014. Since DeGeneres’ second stint, organizers have recruited Neil Patrick Harris, Chris Rock and Jimmy Kimmel.
Only a handful of women, beginning with Agnes Moorehead in 1948 and Claudette Colbert and Thelma Ritter in the 1950s, They have organized the ceremony, but always with one or two men. The same goes for former hosts Goldie Hawn, Jane Fonda, Liza Minnelli and Shirley MacLaine.
It is also since 35 years ago that the Oscars do not have three people in charge of the gala. And, as you can imagine, never before have three women been the presenters of the most prestigious award ceremony in the film industry worldwide.
The ceremonies begin with feminist phrases
In a gala full of humor the actress Regina Hall and comedians Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes began the night with a phrase that marks feminist protests.
“This year, the Academy hired three women as hosts, because it’s cheaper than hiring a man,” the hostesses said.
