Capcom’s latest announcement has managed to impact the gaming community, as the Dragon’s Dogma player count is the highest in over six years, simultaneous players. According to Steam’s database, the game, which first launched in January 2016, reached a peak of 6,582 concurrent players on Sunday, a figure it has only surpassed during the game’s release month.
This figure is similar to recent releases like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, which got 6,599 concurrent players on Steam during the same 24-hour period. So yes, the number of simultaneous Dragon’s Dogma players is impressive.
Capcom officially announced Dragon’s Dogma 2
Highest number of Dragon’s Dogma players
Dragon’s Dogma is among the top 50 best-selling and pre-order games on Steam, ahead of games like Day Z, Hunt: Showdown, and Sea of Thieves. The reappearance of Dragon’s Dogma is probably due to the recent announcement of the long-awaited sequel to the game, and at a very low price, which surely caused this increase in the number of Dragon’s Dogma players. Following the announcement, Capcom said that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is being developed with its RE engine.

In addition to the good news about Dragon’s Dogma player numbers, there is some not so good news. The announcement of the new game has prompted some calls for the first game, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, to receive an FPS boost on the Xbox Series X and S, but sadly it won’t. Xbox Project Management Director Jason Ronald explained that the team has already attempted to apply a FPS increase to Dragon’s Dogma back in the daybut “unfortunate side effects” prevented it from working.
