MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 are expected to arrive later this year, but today we have some more information on the possible design of these upcoming Apple notebooks.
According to a reliable Apple analyst, the new MacBook Pro line will take inspiration from the design of the current iPhone 12.
Specifically, the new range of notebooks will abandon the curvy design of the top and bottom parts of existing models in favor of a flat-edged design similar to the company’s latest smartphone range introduced in October 2020.
The same iPhone 4-style flat edges have also been relaunched on the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air, so it makes sense that Apple is planning to apply the same design to its upcoming MacBook Pro notebooks.
Apple could sharpen the edges of the upcoming MacBook Pros
Recent MacBook Pro models already offer flat edges, however, the corners and top and bottom show a slight curvature, while newer models should sport flatter, sharper edges.
On the other hand, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that the new MacBook Pro models will be similar to current models and will receive only minor design tweaks.
Earlier rumors have said that the upcoming 14 and 16-inch Apple MacBook Pro models may reintroduce the SD card slot to meet the needs of professionals who need to handle a lot of photos or video footage.
According to other rumors, the new MacBooks will also reintroduce MagSafe charging, but with a redesigned port, and will lose the Touch Bar option, in addition, it is rumored that a new MacBook Air model with a 13-inch display and thinner bezels is in the works.
The new MacBook Air could include the next generation of Apple’s M1 chipset and a pair of USB 4 ports and be proposed as a higher-end version than the current Apple MacBook Air.
