The present day CD Projekt Red announced financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2022, which covers January to March of this year. In introducing him, CEO Adam Kicinski gave an update on the development of the new installment of The Witcher announced in March.
Since it was announced that CD Projekt Red was working on a new The Witcher game, it was confirmed that it was being developed with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine. Thanks to the switch to this graphics engine, the team is seeing improvements in development efficiency.

Although the new Witcher game is still in pre-production, Kicinski confirmed that they have more than 100 developers working on this new installment, and says that the studio is “very happy” with the project. CD Projekt Red began research on the project last year, but pre-production will begin in the first quarter of 2022.
CD Projekt Red is working with Epic Games developers to ensure that the graphics engine is properly tuned, as the company’s strategy is to continue creating “powerful open world RPGs.” Additionally, CD Projekt Red develops its own narrative design tools in-house.

Although the new Witcher game has more than 100 developers in its pre-production alone, one of the charts the company showed shows that the majority of CD Projekt Red employees are working on the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, while that the team of the new The Witcher is the smallest of all.
