The new Test Drive Unlimited would be exclusive to the next-gen

In 2020, French publisher Nacon announced a new installment in the open world racing series, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. The developer behind this game is Kylotonn, also French, who is responsible for other racing games such as the WRC series, also published by Nacon.

Unlike most racing games, the premise of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown focuses on a high-class lifestyle, especially when it comes to fashion looks and luxury car brands. Among them are Ferraris, Bugattis and Lamborghinis, which give players the chance to own sleek and stylish cars.

Last year’s trailer Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown it focused on these aspects, emphasizing the fancy painted cars, the lavish setting, and the lifestyle that people of this caliber would lead. In a recent blog post from the game’s developers, it is detailed that the player will take part in a clan war on Hong Kong Island, where they will choose to align themselves with either the Streets or the Sharps.

These two clans will face each other in the Solar Crown competition, with the aim of imposing their own way of life on the other. Other details, such as its launch window, are confirmed in the same blog post.

One of the most important details that the Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown team points out is that Nacon would be abandoning development on the PS4 and Xbox One platforms. According to the blog post, this is because the team wants to take advantage of the technology that is available on next-gen consoles and “maximize” the quality of the game. The Switch version looks like it’s still in development, though it could be a stripped-down version to suit the handheld hybrid console.

However, in order not to leave fans disappointed, the team states that this additional development time will allow fans to participate in a series of beta tests.
