Little by little Sony continues to resolve some issues that arose as a result of the announcement of the new PlayStation Plus. One of the characteristics of this service is that it will be divided into three different levelseach with their own benefits, but what hadn’t been clear was what would happen if someone wanted to modify their subscription and upgrade it to a higher level, as well as how much they would have to pay for it.
Thanks to an email from Sony that has begun to send users, it has been confirmed that the current PlayStation Plus subscription will automatically transform into PlayStation Plus Essential, the first of the three in which it will be divided. Users will keep the same subscription period they already had and access to all its benefits until it expires, unless it is renewed.
It is also indicated that absolutely nothing will have to be paid when this new service is activated, unless changes are made in the subscription plans or in the payment frequency. This is where one of the doubts we had has been resolved, because Sony has reported that anyone can easily increase the subscription level. Simply you will have to pay the difference between your current level and the new plan you chooseadjusted by the remaining time of the subscription that you have at that moment.
We recall that the level PlayStation Plus Essential It will be the most basic and will be exactly the same as the current PlayStation Plus, with its free games per month, exclusive discounts, cloud storage for saved games, access to online multiplayer and PlayStation Plus Collection games for 8.99 euros per month or 59.99 euros per year.
From there you can go up to the level PlayStation Plus Extrawhich includes a catalog of up to 400 of the best PS4 and PS5 games, including Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal for 13.99 euros per month or 99.99 euros per year.
As for the highest level, playstation premium, will offer access to an additional 340 games from PSX, PS2 and PSP via streaming in the cloud or for download, and also from PS3 only available by streaming, as well as offering the possibility of streaming games from PS4, PS5 and PC and access trials of games for a limited time. All this for 16.99 euros per month or 119.99 euros per year.
As confirmed in recent days, the new PlayStation Plus will be activated in Europe on June 22ndalthough we will be the last to receive it, because it will first arrive in the Asian market on May 23, in Japan on June 1 and in America it will be available from June 13.
