Honor has announced up to three new devices during the Mobile World Congress to complete its smartphone catalog for at least the first half of 2023. The Asian company has announced the Honor Magic Vs, the first foldable to be marketed in Europe. Also the Magic 5 Lite, a model that was previously revealed a few days ago, as well as the Honor Magic 5 Pro, the trump card of the brand to try to compete in an increasingly competitive —and expensive— premium range.
This new Honor Magic 5 Pro, in particular, comes to compete against the flagships of manufacturers such as Samsung, with its Galaxy S23 Ultra; or Xiaomi, with its recently announced Mi 13 Pro. It does so with the latest from Qualcomm and without skimping on RAM or storage, with a large screen and a triple camera capable of taking photos with a zoom of up to 100x.
Performance, in fact, is one of the most important sections of this new mobile. Mainly, we reiterate, because of its processor. He Snapdragon Gen 2 It is one of the most powerful SoCs today, and it is also present in the rest of the flagship mobiles from other manufacturers, although the company affirms that, compared to its competition, this Qualcomm chip in the Magic 5 Pro can offer a WiFi connection with a latency of less than 30%.
The company has also opted for a single configuration of 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for its flagship, as well as a 5,100mAh battery which is accompanied with a fast charge of 66 W.

A promising screen and a camera that is not far behind
Regarding the screen, the Honor Magic 5 Pro has a 6.81-inch OLED panel. It includes LTPO technology, capable of adapting the refresh rate up to 120 Hz. That is, when the terminal is reproducing a fixed image on the screen, such as text or a photograph, the refresh rate is adjusted to 1hz. If instead the user is doing scroll or playing content, the refresh rate increases up to 120 Hz. The screen of the Honor Magic 5 Pro also stands out for its brightness, which is up to 1800 nits.
Of course, the photographic section is also one of the most important areas of this Honor Magic 5 Pro. It has, specifically, a triple camera that includes a 50 megapixel main sensoranother ultra-wide-angle camera of the same resolution, and a telephoto sensor, also 50 megapixels, capable of capturing images in a 3.5x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom.
Honor has also decided to include its own chip for the camera called Image Engine. This offers some additional functions, such as a capture algorithm called Falcon, which allows you to take sharper photos in scenes with movement or low lighting. Honor’s Imagine Engine chip also has some AI-powered features, such as one capable of identifying the highest point of a jump to capture that frame.
Price and availability of the new Honor Magic 5 Pro
The Honor Magic 5 Pro will be available in Spain during the month of May in two colors: black, and a greenish tone called Meadow Green. It will arrive, we reiterate, in a version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, and at a price €1,199. That is, it costs 210 euros less than the base version of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which includes 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.
