The oval brand has changed its strategy, presenting first the electric version of the new generation of one of its best-selling commercials. The new Ford e-Transit Custom is already a reality, and now the combustion version appears. The 2023 Ford Transit Custom, a pure commercial with a higher roof that will increase cargo capacity.
Ford’s European division has begun public road testing of the new 2023 Ford Transit Custom, the combustion variant of the blue oval brand’s best-selling commercial model in Europe. A true strut that has been completely renewed, and that has just been hunted in one of the remote Ford test sites in Germany.
A few spy photos that reveal one of the interesting body variants that are available in the range of Ford commercials, true leaders of their category in this unstoppable market. The production prototypes of this new generation of the van have been seen with one of the most capable bodies in terms of cargo volume, with a high roof that allows large goods to be moved, although with a short wheelbase.
Although the vinyl covers the entire bodywork, interesting details can be seen, such as the fact that it is not a purely commercial option, but rather a passenger transport option. And it is that through the driver’s window you can see part of the glass of the sliding rear door on the right side and the vinyl adhered to the glass. A very successful camouflage job by Ford technicians, who have not hesitated to hide this area so well, and leave the front design more visible.
The front area will share aesthetics with the newly introduced electric variant, with slim headlights and a large radiator grille dominating the view. The stylists have also copied the bumper lines of the electric version, although those at the ends have been transformed into discreet ventilation gills. A more elegant design that aims to win the match against the equivalents of Stellantis, among others.
The brand will also offer a more technological interior, with a digital instrument panel and a new screen for the infotainment system, adding new connectivity options and driving assistants. The new generation of the Transit Custom will debut in 2023, with a range of versions dominated by the 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine, different traction and total configurations, as well as a 10-speed automatic transmission, with a wide variety of wheelbases, chassis, cabin, cargo box and a long list of transformations.
