This initiative of the Madrid Publishers Association fform part of the Books to the Street campaign. Choose your destination, Madrid Metro Literary Map It has renamed the metro stations with the help of the travelers themselves. For this, 800 titles from up to 15 thematic categories and different genres were preselected, and during the months of July and August more than 26,000 votes were received that selected their favorites.

Prince of Vergara is now Harry Potter and Gran Vía, Little women. Stations like Argüelles disappear to make way for Virgia Woolf and A room of my own and every stop invites us to read the book that replaces the station.

What’s more they wanted to pay tribute to the authorsThat is why the Sol Metro station is called “They wrote” and it is dedicated to all the women who throughout history have been relegated from writing because they are women.
Books on the street, an initiative to promote reading
The campaign to promote and encourage reading, Books on the street, celebrates its 14th edition and they have not only wanted to pay homage with the map. 6,600 sheets will be installed in the Metro and in municipal and interurban buses and we will be able to read fragments by 14 authors that will be accompanied by original illustrations by different artists such as Lady Desidia, Raúl Fernández Calleja or Andrea Reyes.
Authors such as Luis Eduardo Aute or Emilia Pardo Bazán will be honored, she will also be on the centenary of her death, and we will be able to see the texts of Francisco Brines, Cervantes Prize 2020; Irene Vallejo, winner of the 2020 National Essay Award for her book Infinity in a reed; Olga Novo, 2020 National Poetry Prize for Happiness; Juan Bonilla National Narrative Award 2020 for his work Sexual totality of the cosmos; and Javier de Isusi, 2020 National Comic Award for Oscar Wilde’s Divine Comedy; among other authors.
