The electric offensive that Mercedes is carrying out in the United States includes the launch of its very interesting EQC SUV. The Mercedes EQC will make the leap to the US market with the arrival of its second generation. A landing that is scheduled for the middle of this decade.
The United States is one of the main automotive markets for electric cars. Mercedes
It is aware of the role that the noted North American country plays and therefore has established an ambitious roadmap to be a relevant actor in the transition process towards sustainable mobility that is already taking place in the United States.
One of the new electrics that Mercedes has proposed to introduce in American dealerships has been available for a long time on the Old Continent. Finally, and after all, the Mercedes EQC will make the leap to the United States. However, the EQC that US drivers will be able to drive has nothing to do with the model currently available in Europe (and other markets).
The second generation of the Mercedes EQC will arrive in the United States
The EQC will storm the United States with the arrival of its second generation. At the beginning of the turbulent year 2020 marked by the pandemic, Mercedes opened the door to the possible commercialization of the EQC in said American market with the aim of boost the Mercedes-EQ sub-brand. However, and after delaying the launch for a year, its introduction was finally discarded. However, this is not a final decision.
Today, if we venture onto the Mercedes-Benz USA website, we will find that the new Mercedes EQS is the only EQ model to make an appearance. Now, south of the Rio Grande, the situation is quite different. The EQC is available in Mexico. But, beyond this question, it is crucial that the Mercedes electric SUV is present in the United States to be, truly, a global model.
Dimitris Psillakis, CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, said the current EQC was not the right model for the EQ sub-brand in America: “When you launch a new brand, you have to have the right products. We cannot go to market with half-cooked plans. Clearly, we were not ready to launch the EQ brand in 2020. We made the decision to delay the launch of the brand to prepare ourselves and the network with the right product.

Electric SUVs will be decisive in the United States
Despite the fact that, for Mercedes, the current EQC does not meet the necessary standards to deal in the US territory. The drivers of this market make it clear that electric SUVs will be decisive. According to the Mercedes dealer network, a 100% electric alternative to the Mercedes GLC would work really well. And that’s where the EQC comes in. The GLC is one of the best-selling Mercedes in America.
This same month, the brand itself communicated to its dealers in the North American country that the new generation EQC will be ready by about the middle of this decade.
