euphoria This week the curtain of the season has lowered and it has become the second most watched series on HBO, only behind Game of Thrones. The series created by Sam Levinson is a mass cultural phenomenon and not only because of its audiovisual quality. Around the fiction has been created a community of viewers waiting in shared agony for each new episode and that they comment on it later on networks through memes.
In times of streaming platforms, where everyone decides when and at what pace to watch their content, the weekly premiere of each episode of the HBO series has once again brought us together in front of the screen, turning Sundays and Mondays into ” Euphoria day” with thousands of people celebrating and participating in a common global conversation.
In fact, Twitter notified last Friday, February 25, that 30 million times had been tweeted about the second season of euphoria, making it the most tweeted about television show of the decade to date. Now it seems that we will have to wait until 2024 to see if the phenomenon continues with the third season for which it has been renewed, but these memes will remain forever as a memory of the great moments of the second with which we vibrate, cry, laugh and get angry together.

Maddy banging on the door
In the first episode, a New Years party takes place where Maddy bangs on the bathroom door unaware that her abusive ex-boyfriend is inside making out with her best friend. It is one of the most tense scenes of the season and, in turn, has caused countless memes and edits.

“Bitch, you better be joking”
Another of the most iconic scenes of this second batch of episodes also happened in a bathroom. More specifically, in the East Highland High School girls’ bathroom. Cassie, spiraling into overdressing to get Nate’s attention, showed up for class in a guise she looked like she possessed from a country star’s wardrobe.
When Maddy points it out to her, she asks if it seems good or bad and her friend replies with a disbelieving face: “Bitch, you better be joking” (which would translate, more or least, like “aunt, I hope you’re kidding”). A moment that has become an image to react to other scenes of the season, series or any matter that deserves the little phrase.
“I have never ever been happier”
In fact, this scene it had already become a meme on TikTok even before the episode aired on HBO and is that part of it was included in the trailer for the season. After the situation described above, Cassie explodes in a nervous breakdown and screams between tears and snot that they can judge her if they want but that she had never been so happy in her life. The sound of this phrase became a Chinese social network sound to accompany user situations where, like the character, they were clearly not in their right mind despite claiming otherwise.
Lexi’s work
There is no doubt that another of the great moments of Euphoria has been the work that Lexi has written and directed about her life and that of her friends. A fiction within fiction that has left us images to remember such as Ethan’s homoerotic dance or the impressive sets that the institute seems to be able to afford by not having any teacher on staff. And that Ethan played only half of the characters…

Elliot’s Endless Song
This season has received a lot of complaints from fans who hoped their favorite characters would have gotten more screen time like Kat or Fezco. Perhaps that is why the song that Elliot dedicates to Rue in the last episode has been highly criticized without coming to mind.
