The letter that Steve Jobs wrote to a candidate to make him part of the professional history that continues to distinguish him to date, is an important human resources document, especially due to the prominence that the company continues to maintain today.
The document is also an important antecedent of the role that Steve Jobs played at the time and the importance he had in the market, in which his role as leader continues to be commented on.
Let us remember that Jobs made one of the boldest ideas in 1985, when he took 12 million dollars of his money, to launch a computer assembly company called NeXT, a firm that continues to be mentioned in the history of Jobs to this day. .
During 1989, a year after NeXT launched its first computer, Jobs extended what he considered an “exceptionally great” job offer to David Nagy, who was working as a product manager at Apple when Jobs tried to recruit him under a new brand. .
Jobs offered the repentant candidate a salary of $88,000 a year. According to the offer letter obtained by RR Auction, the position, which did not carry real title, also offered a $5,000 bonus, plus options to purchase five thousand shares of NeXT common stock and coverage under the health care plan, for company employees.
The letter reads the following:
Dear Dave,

A salary of 80 thousand dollars per year with monthly payments.
Another of the benefits offered was affiliation to the health plan and most importantly, a bonus of 5 thousand pesos that would be given in the talks to study.
