Apple’s new budget phone would be begging, but new information places it at a very close launch window. Specifically for the first quarter of the year.
We have been waiting for a long time for the next iPhone SE, which rumors suggest that it will be called iPhone SE 3 because the previous model was called iPhone SE (2020) and it was the second model in the series.
The point is that the iPhone SE (2020) was launched in April 2020, hence the name. And in the technological world it is not normal to have to wait two whole years for a brand to update a model.
Now we could be the imminent launch of the iPhone SE 3 because there is a credible source behind it. The phone would probably be announced this March or April.
The source in question is Mark Gurman, a journalist with a long history of leaks about Apple. And so he has stated in the latest Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, adding that The iPhone SE 3 is likely to have 5G and new internals, but a similar design to the previous model.
Which means the Touch ID fingerprint scanner and home button are probably not going anywhere. And this is consistent with the traditional designs that iPhone SEs have always had.
Gurman’s speech in this latest leak suggests we might see other things besides the iPhone SE 3 at this special event earlier in the year, but doesn’t reveal what. He also points out that it will apparently be a virtual event and not face-to-face (something logical with Ómicron).
Gurman says that at the WWDC in June we are likely to see iOS 16, watchOS 9, macOS 13 and tvOS 16 there, but there he has played easy as they are the most anticipated news for this year 2022.
