The rumored iPhone 9 or SE 2, which would be the lowest-cost model of Apple phones, would have the same body as the iPhone 8 but would eliminate the Home button and, consequently, incorporate Face ID recognition.
According to the Japanese portal Macotakara, the above was commented by workers of component supplier companies to Apple in the last CES 2020 of Las Vegas.
By dispensing with the Home button and its corresponding Touch ID, the phone would increase the size of its screen from 4.7 to 5.4 inches, which would bring it closer to an iPhone X – 5.8 inches – than the 8.
The source, according to information leaked for months, said the phone would have the latest Apple processor, the Bionic A13, and a single camera.
The screen size, however, contradicts previous reports that assured that the iPhone 9 would be practically equal to 8, only with minor changes, which is in Apple’s logic for the iPhone SE: use the physical appearance of a past model and put more recent components in order to reduce costs.
In that line, in previous weeks, sources close to the iPhone manufacturing environment said there would be two models of the 9, following the sizes of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Max.
