Without being officially announced, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is capable of charging significantly faster than the previous generation. When we connect one of these iPhone to a charger of 30 W or more the phone is capable of accepting up to 27 W, which accelerates the charging of the device substantially.
More speed, although depending on the temperature of the battery
According to tests carried out by ChargerLAB, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is capable of handling a charge speed significantly higher than that of its predecessors. Connected to the same 30 W PD charger, the iPhone 12 Pro Max reaches speeds of 21 or 22 W, while the new iPhone 13 Pro Max reach 27 W.
These speeds, however, do not hold for the entire charge cycle to avoid overheating excessive battery life, but together it contributes to the iPhone 13 Pro Max reaching 100% charge somewhat faster than its predecessor. According to tests carried out by DanRui, the iPhone 13 Pro Max can be fully charged in 86 minutes, maintaining, in that particular test, 26 W of power for about 27 minutes.
In tests carried out by AppleInsider the fast charging of 27 W only comes into play when the battery is between 10 and 40% loading. Above these values the load is carried out at about 23 W.
While the iPhone 13 Pro charges at up to 23W and the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini continue with the same speeds of the iPhone 12 equivalents, it is interesting to see how Apple explores possibilities to charge our phones even faster. A fast charge always focused on the heat generated not degrading our batteries and reducing their useful life.
