Over the past year, the Government and communities have launched a host of new new tax reforms. This means that the new campaign of the Tax Agency, the Income of 2022, will be very atypical both in its substance and in its form. It will arrive full of rate changes in personal income tax, limits on contributions to social security systems, new taxes on energy, banking and large fortunes or the tax benefits of the startup law.
In short, the 2022 Income, whose dates are already just around the corner, brings great important changes for workers, especially the self-employed. Let’s see what it means.
More people get rid of doing it
Until now, people who earned less than €14,000 a year from two or more payers were not required to present the Income. With the new modification, the limit rises to €15,000 per year. In other words, all workers who earn less than €15,000 per year through two or more payers do not have the obligation to make the 2022 Income. They have the option to do so if they prefer (in case it comes out to return them).
Not only that: it also changes the limit of workers who have received all their income from a single payer. In this case, for the 2022 Income, workers who earn less than 21,000 euros a year from a single payer, are not required to make the income in 2023. A reduction of €1,000 if we compare what is set in the current system.

Reduction for work income
That will be applied to gross salaries of between €15,000 and €21,000, a figure that is equivalent to the median salary in Spain. In addition, the minimum income tax exemption is also extended from €14,000 to €15,000, which means that below €15,000 no personal income tax will have to be paid, neither through withholdings nor as a result of the declaration. What does it mean? That if a worker receives the interprofessional minimum (€14,000) he will not pay personal income tax. If a worker earns 14,500 euros and pays personal income tax, he will stop paying the tax.
This measure will mean a reduction for 50% of workers and savings of 1,881 million euros, according to government calculations.
Maternity deduction
All those mothers who do not have a permanent job and are unemployed will receive an aid of €100. Until now, this amount was only given to working mothers for each child under the age of three. The measure is estimated to have tax benefits of just over 200 million euros, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Big changes for freelancers
Actually, good news for them. They will have an additional reduction in personal income tax of 5% in the net yield of modules. That is added to the automatic reduction of 5% of net income with a maximum annual amount of 2,000 euros for the self-employed who are taxed by simplified direct estimation. This includes those known as deductible expenses that are difficult to justify, whose reduction percentage will rise to 7%.
According to the Government, this will save the 577,688 self-employed in our country 68 million euros and a reduction in the tax bill of 116 million euros for almost a million self-employed workers.
And at the regional level
Important changes will be seen in relation to the deflation of personal income tax in some communities. In the case of the Community of Madrid, the lowest incomes will enjoy a reduction in the quota of 6.26% for a gross salary of 20,000 euros. In the case of citizens with a salary of 32,600 euros per year, it will be 2.71%. For salaries of 90,000 euros, 1.49%.
In the Valencian Community they go further and the regional section of personal income tax will be reduced for taxpayers who have a lower income of up to 60,000 euros per year. And Andalusia has abolished the Wealth Tax in its community as well as also deflating the regional income tax quota by 4.3% (just like Galicia or Murcia).
