Chiles in oil with sesame seeds and seeds is the best-selling artisanal sauce by La Comandanta in Mexico and the United States through Amazon and with a high level of repurchase.
Silke German is the founder and CEO of The Commandera company that produces a single product: Comandanta sauce with inputs from producers in the town of Comaltitlán, Chiapas.
Due to the great demand on Amazon for this 100% natural sauce, several brands have sought out this Mexican SME to make other macha sauces of excellent flavor and quality.
Comandanta sauce is the star product that subsidizes and helps open the doors to other products from small producers such as grasshopper marinade, limited harvest beans, wild chiltepin (a chili hand-picked by Tehuima Indians in the Sierra de Sonora) , granulated piloncillo, artisanal sea salt, pork rinds with Jamaican Creole, black mole, baked tortilla chips made from blue Creole corn, yellow acahual honey and ancestral chocolate.
“La Comandanta was born in my kitchen. At first I started selling the sauce in jars of mayonnaise and mustard. The second stage was when we involved small producers to team up with them. Then Verónica Cassanova joined the company as a partner. She has experience in the commercial part”, explains Silke German, founder and CEO of La Comandanta.
These entrepreneurs have become successful Amazon United States sellers because they have great products in every sense of the word and the opportunity to access millions of customers from Mexico, the US and Canada by selling on this website.
“It has been very satisfying to see that La Comandanta is growing by leaps and bounds in the United States,” they say.
As mothers and entrepreneurs, what has helped them is just reaching that balance between being able to be with their children and at the same time continue working from anywhere. “Anyone who has a product and wants to sell it on Amazon, I would tell them to take a risk. They have everything to gain and any questions are also worth asking. You approach and Amazon helps you”, says Veronica.
This is how La Comandanta focuses on identifying, rescuing and promoting Creole and ancestral Mexican foods made by producers under the most traditional methods of our country. And best of all: They have been able to grow their business and increase their sales with Amazon as an ally.
“The most rewarding thing is seeing our dream of selling in the United States come true. I cried with happiness the truth, ”says Silke.
