Earlier this week, Apple announced the release of its highly anticipated next version of its mobile operating system. Of course, during the presentation all the new features of iOS 17 were shown coming soon, and soon after the official website was updated to include many more unmentioned features.
However, although the list of devices compatible with iOS 17 is quite extensive, there are some functions that will not reach all terminals in it. The reason is in the processing power, and it is that many of them need features that are only available from a specific generation.
Today we come to bring you a list of all the iOS 17 features coming to each iPhone model. Just find yours and see what Apple has prepared for you.
iOS 17 features exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro
- Standby mode. This feature will be on iPhone 14 Pro that update to iOS 17. To activate StandBy mode, you have to position your mobile horizontally and connect it to a MagSafe or Lightning charger. Afterwards, a calendar and clock will be displayed on the always-on display only available on this model.
Features available from iPhone 12 and later
- 3D Reactions on FaceTime. With iOS 17 a rather curious new function is integrated. The iPhone will detect your hand gestures and allow you to send appropriate reactions to each one. Thus, you can send from hearts to fireworks and confetti. Of course, you will need an iPhone 12 onwards.
- improved autocorrect. Another of the new features that arrive with iOS 17 is a substantial improvement in the autocorrect. Apple wants to make it more personal and accurate, and to do that it will use machine learning. For this, you also need an iPhone 12 or any higher model.
- keyboard predictions. The iOS 17 system will be able to predict the words in your sentences and auto-complete them by tapping the space bar. In addition to requiring an iPhone 12 and up, it is limited to English, at least at the time of writing this article.
- Point and Talk. This function reads labels on objects around them for blind or low vision users. They just have to point the iPhone and the LiDAR reader will do its magic. This function is limited to the Pro models of each family, which are the only ones that have the scanner.
iOS 17 features coming to all supported iPhone models
- FaceTime on Apple TV. As we already told you, tvOS 17 arrives with the ability to make FaceTime calls from your television. You can launch them on your iPhone and stream them to your TV. Of course, you will need an Apple TV 4K second generation or later.
- NameDrop. This iOS 17 feature allows you to exchange phone numbers just by tapping your phones together. It will be available on all iPhone models compatible with the new version.
- AirPods Adaptive Audio. During WWDC 2023, Apple announced news to its star headphones, and which we already told you about. This function will be available on all iPhone models, although it will only reach the second generation AirPods Pro.
- siri command. As of iOS 17, Apple integrates a function that makes it easy to wake up the virtual assistant of its ecosystem by simply saying “Siri”. Although it is only available in English at the time of writing, it is compatible with all iPhone models.
- lock history. Among the iOS 17 features is a history of use of locks, doors, alarm systems and sensors from the last 30 days in the Home app. It works with any iPhone model compatible with the new version of the operating system.
