For a salad to be really appetizing and enjoyable We already know that you have to find the right combination of ingredients, invest in good raw materials and achieve a balance of textures. Surely you already have your favorite salad recipes mastered, but you can take them up a notch with a simple trick.
The idea is none other than to pay attention to the container where it is prepared and the salad is served, the typical source or large bowl that we bring to the table so that all the diners serve themselves on their plates. Because yes, crockery can also be dressed and seasoned.
The only thing to do is cut a clove of garlic very fresh and aromatic, peeled, in half, and rub the entire interior of the salad bowl or bowl with it, so that it is impregnated with its aroma and part of the juices that it will release; yes, gently, it is not about squeezing the garlic and crumbling it throughout the container.
Immediately afterwards we must add the main base of the ensada in question, our favorite lettuce, leafy vegetables (spinach, kale, lamb’s lettuce, arugula…) or mix, season with a good extra virgin olive oil, and mix gently. We already have the foundations to add the rest of the ingredients, we could even serve the green salad with nothing more than a little vinegar, salt, pepper and lemon zest.
Is a way fast and efficient of obtaining a tastier salad without complicating our lives with separate vinaigrettes or sauces, preparing the simplest formula directly at the source and without worrying about obtaining an excessively powerful garlic flavor that can make us sick or repeat in more delicate digestions.
In addition to garlic we can apply the same trick to other aromatic products such as fresh ginger, torn basil leaves, sliced lemon, leftover Parmesan rind, half an onion, etc., or a mix of several.
This trick seems to work in wooden bowls as well as glass, ceramic or even metal salad bowls, and to make sure no traces of garlic odor will be left behind, it will usually suffice to leave the bowl to soak with warm water and dishwashing detergent. If the aroma still persists, we can soak and rub with water, vinegar and baking soda.
