At the beginning of July, the health alert regarding the presence of ethylene oxide in ice cream of the American brand was published Haagen-Dazs, initially only of its vanilla variety. Now the AESAN has extended the alert upon receiving updated information from the company itself, which has decided withdraw as a precaution up to 22 varieties of its products of different flavors and formats.
This has been made public by General Mills, owner of the brand, declaring that the decision has been made to apply the precautionary principle after the detection of traces of 2-chloroethanol (2CE), ethylene oxide, in the aforementioned vanilla flavor, applying the measure to all products with a Date of Expiry included:
between March 8, 2023 and April 29, 2023 for the Multi Packs.
between March 16, 2023 and April 29, 2023 for Tubs, Mini Tubs, Mini Bonbons, Multi Pack Bonbons.
between May 16, 2023 and June 29, 2023 for individual Bonbons.
All the flavors and formats of these ice creams are thus identified and all come from the same origin, Francewhere the problem has been located in the vanilla of a supplier concrete. The different points of sale that have received some of these products have already been contacted to speed up the withdrawal, but consumers who may have some of the ice creams at home are asked to refrain from consuming them and return them to the point of sale. .
