Summer arrives and with the relative one of the great novelties of the Council of Ministers of President Pedro Sánchez, creating a package of economic measures that will facilitate the trips of Spanish youth during the summer.
Between them, they promise discounts for travel by train, by bus and to carry out the popular Interrail, but we are going to discover the fine print that this measure may have for some of the travelers.
In essence, these measures will be in force from the June 15 to September 15, 2023, and they can only apply to people between the ages of 18 and 30, but there’s the first fine print.
These measures are focused only on people who were born between January 1, 1993 and December 31, 2005. Therefore, if you have not yet turned 30, but you were born in 1992 you are out of the equation.
Even so, it is estimated that 12.5 million Spaniards could benefit from this measure that is also dotted with benefits when traveling both by train and by bus.
The small print of the discounts to travel on Interrail and train this summer
Yet another of the fine print on those cheap bus rides has to do with the type of bus you can take. In this sense, the discount is 90% for the price of a single ticket for return tickets on regular bus services under state jurisdiction, that is, only on 77 lines within the national territory, according to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.
Apart from the bus, the other great beneficiary is rail transport. In this way, young Spaniards will be able to travel with a 90% discount on the price of a single or return ticket on conventional medium-distance services. However, for the use of travel and tickets on Avant services the discount will be only 50%.
Finally, with regard to the high-speed services of the operators that provide this service (not all operators will do so), you can only discount up to 50% of the ticket price in a maximum of 30 euros per ticket.

The last small print, obviously, has to do with the so-called Interrail Pass. In this case, the government rebate is estimated at 50% as long as it has been marketed through Renfe. With this pass, you can travel through 33 different European countries, from which most of the Eastern European countries are excluded, and we insist that only Spaniards under 30 years of age can benefit. In the event that the ticket is purchased through Renfe. If we try to buy an Interrail pass with another community operator, we will not have the same advantages.
