The NFTs (Non-fungible token or non-fungible token) are in fashion and the smartest entrepreneurs do not hesitate to take advantage of the concept, taking it to increasingly unsuspected terrain. The new field to be explored seems to be gastronomy, since the opening of Flyfish Club, the first NFT restaurant of the world that will open in New York next year.
An NFT, as its name suggests, is based on tokens non-fungible, being a token a unit of value assigned to a specific business model, but which in this case cannot be exchanged. In other words, as our colleagues from Xataka, NFTs are unique assets that cannot be modified or exchanged for another that has the same value.
And how do you take this idea to a restaurant? Focusing directly on the exclusiveness, which, in the end, is what moves all NFT enthusiasts, and how well it permeates the gastronomic scene gourmet. In this way, Flyfish Club will be a restaurant only accessible to members that they have acquired tokens of the same through cryptocurrencies.
There are currently available Two types of token of this business: Flyfish and Flyfish Omakase, at a price of about 13,600 and 29,500, respectively; some 12,044 and 26,125 euros To the change. The first membership will entitle you to access the restaurant and the lounge cocktail bar, while the second also adds access to the omakase room. Of course, once inside, food and drink will be paid with dollars lifelong.
It will be a restaurant for seafood enthusiasts, with a menu revolving around the top quality fish and seafood with international influences, especially Peru and Japan, and dishes designed by top chefs and, as announced, Michelin stars. The omakase menu will be served in a separate room for 14 people with fresh fish that will be brought daily from Japan.
David Rodolitz, co-founder and CEO of VCR Group, the company leading the project, points out that Flyfish Club’s philosophy is to revolve around utility, encouraging their customers to use the tokens as soon as the restaurant is up and running some unspecified time in 2023. It will be in an exclusive yet unannounced location in a prime area of New York.
After the initial announcement of the project, they were sold over 1,000 memberships in less than a minute, already grossing $14 million earlier this year. For Rodolitz, they have inaugurated a new form of business in the world of restoration, since this is how they obtain funds long before opening, or even having a specific place or menu.
The tokens acquired will give the option to reserve a table for different companions, but they cannot be lent to other people. The tokens yes they can be bought, sold or even rented if the partner spends a few days out of town. Sales will be made through the OpenSea platform, with an additional charge of 2.5% to Opensea and 10% to VCR Group, which must be paid by the seller.
