A new week arrives Embracer Group decides to shake up the industry with one of the biggest purchases of the year. The Swedish business group has taken over the ownership of Eidos, Square Enix Montreal and Crystal Dynamics, taking another 50 IPs of all kinds along the way.
Of course, this movement draws new scenarios for the studios, but the case of the creators of Marvel’s Avengers is special. Last year, the task force announced that it would partner with The Initiative to support the task of bringing Perfect Dark forward.
Joanna Dark’s return is taking longer than expected, so any help is welcome. While Crystal Dynamics itself has not commented on whether or not this relationship will continue, The Initiative has stepped out.
We’re excited to see Crystal Dynamics take these next steps with their studio. Our teams have made great progress in building Perfect Dark together as co-development partners, and we will be continuing this work with them in their next chapter. https://t.co/9gG2VGUV8u

We are excited to see Crystal Dynamics take these next steps with their studio. Our teams have made great progress in creating Perfect Dark together as joint development partners, and we will continue this work with them in their next chapter.
Therefore, everything will continue as before. Of course, the latest information we were able to learn about the status of the project was not the best. Various sources pointed to a bad atmosphere between The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics, with the latter taking more power in development than was anticipated.
The creative conflict between the board and the rest of the employees have generated friction that is not helping to direct the return of Perfect Dark. On the other hand, Crystal Dynamics is still focused on releasing content for Marvel’s Avengers, where the Mighty Thor is expected to arrive this month. Additionally, the next Tomb Raider game powered by Unreal Engine 5 is also in the works.
