Windows 11 isn’t just a nice redesign and facelift, it’s innovation too. Widgets, Android applications or the integration of Teams are good proof of this. Today we come to tell you about this latest feature, which is accompanied by the preview release of Microsoft Teams 2.0. Microsoft’s collaborative work application has been totally rewritten to offer superior performance and efficiency.
The new Teams experience comes to Windows 11
By means of a note in the Windows Blog, Microsoft has announced the availability of the Integration of Teams in the Windows 11 taskbar and version 2.0 of the application. At the moment, only some users of the Windows Insider Dev Channel. Also, the rollout is starting with USA, so most of us still won’t be able to access it.
The version of Teams that will come integrated with Windows 11 is not the one that is full of functions and designed for work, but the one focused on consumers. Colloquially known as “Teams for Life”, this version is lighter and simpler than the ordinary one and seeks to be a replacement for other services such as WhatsApp and Telegram.
By simply clicking on the Windows 11 Taskbar icon we can access this new function. From here we can see our recent conversations and chat with our family and friends. All very quickly and easily and no matter what other windows we have open. It will be displayed on top just like the Start Menu.
In case we want to open the full application, we must click on the text “Open Microsoft Teams” located at the bottom. This will lead us to what we have dubbed “Teams 2.0”, totally rewritten to offer better performance and greater efficiency.
This new application makes use of Edge WebView2, harnessing the power of the web. In addition, at the code level it has abandoned Angular to use only React.js. The load times and RAM consumption of the application should improve considerably. These changes will also come later to the version of Teams for business.
