City Transformer has established a strategic alliance with Segula Technologies to make its folding electric microcar project a reality. The new CT-1 will be ready to storm the market in 2024. A small electric vehicle that boasts a range of close to 200 kilometers.
Last year 2021, within the framework of the Munich Motor Show, the company City Transformer
presented a very interesting project in society. Official debut of the new CT-1, the world’s first fully electric folding microcar. A vehicle designed to deal with large European cities. After a while without news about this model, the mobility company has announced an important strategic alliance.
City Transformer has joined forces with Segula Technologies. An alliance that will allow the CT-1 development process to be promoted. Moreover, the Israeli firm assures that this collaboration will be crucial for the CT-1 to end up reaching the market. And it is that, otherwise, it would not be possible to face all the challenges that development has ahead. The agreement will allow to face all the phases of the project. From conception to series production.
CT-1, a 100% electric folding microcar for the city
The new CT-1 has been created under the premise of revolutionizing urban mobility. It’s a battery-powered electric vehicle with a two-seater interior. The main key to this microcar is its patented shape-shifting technology, also called by City Transformer as active fit. It allows you to transform your chassis in real time, on the road while driving, to be able to avoid traffic or adapt to very small urban spaces.
It has the ability to fold and is based on the skateboard modular architecture
developed by the company itself. Active width adjustment technology allows the CT-1 to fold from a width of 1.4 meters, down to a measurement of one meter. All this with a weight of only 590 kilograms in which, logically, the battery pack is included.
The autonomy of the CT-1 reaches 180 kilometers in real conditions and the battery recharge time is only 30 minutes to complete the charging process from 10 to 80%. The maximum speed is 90 km/h and, in case of having a width folded to one meter, the maximum speed is limited to 45 km/h.
CT-1 release date and prices
When will it hit the market? City Transformer has confirmed that the Serial production of the new CT-1 will start in 2024 if everything goes according to plan. Currently the development is in its seventh generation, after 8 years working on the optimization and improvement of the originally devised concept. At the moment it is unknown what its price will be. However, the pre-booking book has been opened. It is possible to carry out a pre-reservation of the CT-1 through the City Transformer website. To confirm it, a payment of €150.00 must be made.
