Tim Berners, computer scientist and father of the World Wide Web (WWW), He declared at the Web Summit conference in Lisbon that he was not convinced by Web3 for the decentralization of the internet and that therefore he had created his own solution which he called Solid.
In a statement given to EuroNews.net, the scientist spoke about the current situation of the web in which personal information is in the hands of certain technological platformsand this represents a problem for the web itself even when At first it was said that tech people would save the world, and now it turns out that we are in a situation where there are many things wrong with the Web.
In this sense, the scientist spent years trying to devise a free and decentralized web where information is open and does not depend on large technology companies, for this reason he created Solid, a solution that consists of a third layer of protocols, which gives a person the ability to initiate login to something with your own personal id. Likewise, he clarified that this is his vision for Web3.0, and he was emphatic saying that it is not Web3 that uses the Ethereum blockchain system and promises to be decentralized.
In Berners’ view, the problem with Web3 is that data, such as health records, can be easily traced; and since it’s public, making it secure is expensive. “Speed is another problem, there are doubts about whether it can be fully decentralized,” Berners stated.
for his partJohn Bruce, CEO and Co-Founder of Inrupt, the company that helps launch Solid He also spoke pointing out that many cryptocurrency and metaverse companies use the word Web3 as the future of the Internet when in fact it is not.
“We are talking about Web 3.0, which is the real thing… Not marketing hijacking, so to speak”said Bruce who also mentioned that Inrupt is talking to governments, including those in Europe, which he did not name, pointed out from EuroNews.net.
