My Hero Academia has been making its way through the final battle between heroes and villains with its last chapters, and the creator behind the series shared a rather bittersweet comment as he recalled how far the series has come now that there is a target in sight. Well, it is no longer a surprise to anyone that this saga will end very soon.
Although the fandom of the series hopes that it will turn out differently and the series can be extended a little longer, it seems that Horikoshi is sticking with this plan for the series finale. Along with the release of My Hero Academia Volume 34 on shelves in Japan, the creator shared a bittersweet message with fans (as seen and translated by @aitaikimochi on Twitter) while wondering how much longer he will be able to draw the characters now that the grand finale seems increasingly in sight. It looks like fans will have to prepare even more.

“I feel like I can finally see the goal in sight. It’s quite a strange feeling to get to this point. In the past, I just drew without caring [por el futuro]but now I wonder how many more times I can draw these characters. Change is frightening like yours to grow old. Well, I really shouldn’t dwell on that! Until the next volume then!” It’s quite a thoughtful statement as the creator recalls not only his time with the series, but how much his own personal life has changed along with it. It’s one more hallmark of the fact that the ending it really is close.
With the final war between the heroes and the villains, and new indications that the end of the series is fast approaching, there are plenty of ideas that fans would like to see continue in this franchise. Whether Horikoshi decides to do it or not, there are many potential avenues. to explore that this series has not had time to develop.
The end of My Hero Academia getting closer
According to Kohei Horikoshi himself, author of My Hero Academia, this series is in its final arc. Fortunately, if you like the dark narrative style it’s taken on in arcs like The War, there might be some good news for you.
In the latest issue of Shonen Jumpmagazine that regularly publishes My Hero Academia, Kohei Horikoshi had this to say about the next story he wants to write: “I want to try to draw a horror manga, but only a littleThis may be well received by fans who loved Dark Deku’s appearance, his solo arc, and the scenes of violence he came to show in the manga.
Nevertheless, we will have to wait to see what the turn will be after Izuku Midoriya takes the title of the new Symbol of Peace as he has been announcing since the beginning of the series. For now, we can remember some dark moments of My Hero Academia like when in the last season of the anime adaptation, My Villain Academia took the opportunity to dive into the past of the League of Villains members. Shigaraki’s origin story specifically saw her Quirk emerging from her during her childhood, horribly tearing her family apart and driving him into the arms of All For One, in a short story that could certainly be considered horror itself. .
You have mentioned in interviews that, either in late 2022 or early 2023, his main work will have a closure and he does not plan to continue in a spin-off or continuation, as has happened with Boruto: Naruto Next Generations or Dragon Ball Super (although this decision is still up in the air). We will have to wait for the next few months to see if this decision holds or we will have a “Shippuden” version of My Hero Academia as a part of the expected fnadom. Meanwhile, we have the spin-off “Watchmen” that shows the past of our protagonists, including All Might himself, when he was still known as “The Symbol of Peace” throughout the world.
