It’s been a strange time within DC, especially when we remember that over the past week, the future of many DC live-action projects saw their future hang in the balance and it was announced that HBO Max would be shelving its Batgirl movie as part of cost saving measures to Warner Bros Discoverywhere after several additional changes, now talking about what’s to come.
You see, the announcement of a planned merger of hbo max and streaming platforms discovery+ and a 10-year plan for DC Films, that’s something to take in, so while some fans are worried about the future of their favorite projects, there’s a long string in the works that are getting a most promising update, as is the case with the series Constantine of JJ Abrams.
And it is that, according to a report by Deadline, Constantine is one of the HBO Max projects that is “on firm ground and moving forward”and although no further details were provided on either what is involved “move along” or the series itself, this is good news in what has been a rollercoaster ride of things within the company, plus this report also mentions that madam x as a project that is still in development.
Given that Constantine in the future would be good news for both DC fans and Abrams, it was reported earlier this year that Warner Bros. Discover was frustrated with Abrams’ lack of production in relation to the overall deal. $250 million from Bad Robot and in June it was announced that HBO had passed on Demimonde, Abrams’ first original TV idea since 2008, and it was cancelled.
The CEO David Zaslav from Warner Bros. Discovery, revealed that the company has a 10-year plan for the DC Universe: “Our ambition is to bring Warner back and produce great, high-quality movies, and as we look at the opportunities we have across the board, DC is high on the list for us. You look at Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman – these are brands that are known all over the world. The ability to push them around the world with a great story is a great opportunity for us. We have done a reset. We have restructured the business. We’re going to focus.”
