Next Move Strategy Consulting has an estimate of the market value of travel retail Worldwide.
Information from the Ministry of Communications and Transportation did not include, until March, the AIFA among the 10 main air terminals in Mexico.
The SCT recently listed the 10 airport locations in the country, according to the traffic they register.
Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) has increased the supply of businesses that it has in operation since it opened on March 28 and, while some stores continue to operate and others announce their arrival with posters, the expectation grows over the travel retail that detonates on the spot. There are brands that seek to sell to the passengers of the place.
The travel retail in Mexico and the world it is expected to reach a value of 43 thousand 800 million dollars, a figure conservatively estimated by Next Move Strategy Consulting. An investigation carried out by the firm explains that the value of this market added up to just 19.7 billion dollars, an understandable figure due to the impact that the health contingency has on these spaces; however, the conservatism of this figure is lost amid the 174 thousand 900 million dollars that the market can reach in value by 2030.
There is optimism in the retail market specializing in sales spaces around terminals and points related to travel, which represents a positive expectation for the future in these places and justifies the arrival of new brands at AIFA.
The terminal, according to a projection by realestatemarket.com.mx, has rental prices that start at 851 pesos per square meter and there are premises between 17 Y 460 square meters.
In the figures projected by the media, only one occupation of 58 locations of 266 available. In its inauguration, of these spaces currently occupied, Merca2.0 verified the day of the inauguration of the terminal that marks as starbucks, Krispy Cremeas well as stores selling perfumes and souvenirs also already operated in the place.

The expectation of operation of these businesses occurs in the midst of new habits that have been consolidated in travel retail. A projection of Yonder warns that in Mexico, a 33 percent would accept to travel with the airlines you trust, as part of the trends that the post-pandemic phenomenon is defining, where only one 7 percent was confident that none of her travel habits would change, the commercial potential shows that more than two years after changing the rules of the travel retaildue to a viral phenomenon with global impact, consumer confidence is once again deposited in flights and the expectation to be part of this activity grows.
