The tests for the development of the new Bentley Continental GT PHEV are getting longer in time. After years missing, the most efficient sports car returned to testing, and now these new spy photos show the British plug-in hybrid near the Nürburgring, one more step in its race towards the market that will come with the facelift.
The Bentley Continental GT Hybrid accumulates a long time in evidence, disappearing for another long period of time and rescued just a few months ago. The reason has been clear: the British brand’s customers have demanded this more sustainable and efficient option that, at the same time, can offer truly wild performance, and the firm has decided to meet this demand.
sighted in numerous spy photosnow the plug-in hybrid version of the Continental GT has been seen where it had not appeared until now: in the vicinity of the Nürburgring circuitwhere Volkswagen maintains facilities used by the British manufacturer, and where this prototype has been hunted, with the retractable rear spoiler slightly deployed and carrying a detail with which they try to generate confusion: the number “12” on the front fender vents. At least, on the left side it looks bright.

A number that refers to the top-of-the-range version’s dozen cylinders with the powerful 6.0-litre W12 engine, but it’s not really found under the front hood. In its place is the same as the heart that other PHEVs already use of the German group as the Porsche Panamera Turbo SE-Hybrid, the block 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 coupled with an electric motor that reaches a maximum power of 700 hp.
This configuration is the one found in the British sports car, showing the battery charging port in the left rear wing, like all sustainable models equipped with this technology from the Wolfsburg giant, developed on the “MSB” platform. This PHEV option is more than interesting for the brand, supported by one of the top managerscompared to the more radical versions of the old SuperSport type.
For now, it is unknown when will this option be presented, charging more and more possibilities to do it with the facelift of the model, which has already been on the market for five years and without any facelift involved. Too long for a model of great importance for Bentley, and a version that can take over the sales books considering that many European cities are shielding their central neighborhoods, limiting access only to models with advanced electrified technology.
