The purchase of 235 Grupo DIA supermarkets by Alcampo is definitively confirmed, an operation that was already announced last summer. Although the movements to make it effective had already begun, it was necessary to have the approval of the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC)which has just approved said sale operation.
so once all conditions met necessary suspensive measures, both companies have the authorization of the competent authorities to carry out their agreement, which, as reported Martin TolcachirCEO of Grupo DIA, also required the authorization of the financial entities responsible for the financing.
The final sale price has not yet been made public or what the income obtained by DIA from the operation will be used for, since will depend on the final number of premises that Alcampo buys and that could be more than the 235 supermarkets initially announced, as well as a logistics center.
In this way, the processes to empty the stores that will become the property of Alcampo continue, which already began at the end of 2022 with large clearance discounts in various locations in La Plaza de DIA. The sale and purchase operation is expected to finalize the details and become effective over the next few months.
