As it did last year, Apple is honoring “Black History Month” in North America and beyond. On this occasion, the company has decided to launch a new strap for the Apple Watch, but it’s not the only thing. They have also released a new sphere completely free for all owners of an Apple Watch.
The new strap arrives under the name of loop onlyand it is a special edition available for $99 Americans. It is a braided and elastic strap, which also has the colors of the Pan-African flag. The new face for Apple Watch, called Unity Lightsit also shows the colors of the mentioned flag, and you can download it through your iPhone.
Throughout the month, users can listen to special episodes of “The Message” on Apple Music 1 that discuss the contributions of Black creators to culture and the importance of health and wellness in the community; join new workouts honoring Black History Month on Apple Fitness+; discover new podcasts from Black creators about health, wellness, culture and history on Apple Podcasts; and much more.

The new Apple Watch face is more than just a pretty face
This new sphere is now available for you to download. Apple announced it through a press release, along with the rest of the news that will arrive during the black history month to celebrate African culture. However, while the new watch face is eye-catching and pretty, it’s a first for Apple Watch.
As Apple has commented, the Unity Lights sphere has been created using 2D ray tracing. This is the first time this technology has been used in the creation of a sphere., and returns fantastic results. This system allows you to simulate on the Apple Watch “the light and shadow falling across it as the clockwise movement simultaneously reveals and hides the light, changing dynamically throughout the day“, says Apple in its press release.
What’s more, you can choose a black or white background for it, as well as if you prefer it on a circular dial or full screen. Without a doubt, this is one of the most curious recent functions on the Apple Watch.
