We are approaching the holidays of the December season and, with this, many Mexicans begin to plan their purchases in advance, since it is expected that this year a large number of people will resume physical purchases. Waze will be analyzing how Mexicans move throughout December, the month in which the end of the year festivities and an important sports fair such as the World Cup are combined.
During the week leading up to Christmas 2021, Waze recorded the most popular entertainment venues that consumers attend during the holiday season, an important time for consumption. Compared to the traffic registered in normal months, the traffic to cinemas during those moments registered an increase of 155%; then come the concerts or musical events accumulating an increase of 123%; and in third place are public or private transport stops with an increase of 108%.

Other high seasons for movement
Waze shared that 50% of navigations in Mexico are associated with moments of consumption, in addition, visits from Waze reached the highest volume in 2022, a trend that is accentuated on special dates, such as:
- Mother’s Day Week: +25% of trips vs. 2021
- Valentine’s Day Week: +26% of trips vs. 2021
- Father’s Day Week: +16% of trips vs. 2021
Additionally, the three most visited categories of physical stores during this time were jewelry stores, with an increase of 249%, toy stores with 213%, and stores dedicated to fashion and clothing with 122%. Finally, it stands out that drivers carry out 45% more navigations associated with trips and 31% more visit outdoor places.
We are seeing a significant increase in trips compared to last year, without a doubt, this December we will find more traffic than in previous years. We are experiencing a 2022 that could be the closest thing to a return to the much more formal new normal.
