In this sense, there are aspects within a consultation that have not been modified for decades. The auscultation part and the interview with the correct questions to identify the cause of the discomfort are some of the main ones. At the same time, there are also other elements that have been transformed.
Until a few years ago, doctors were identified by their white coat and stethoscope. However, now it is different because there are new tools that aim to enhance their capabilities, although unfortunately they are not always within the reach of doctors.
What are the characteristics of smart hospitals?
First of all, in recent years the term smart hospital has emerged. In its simplest definition, these are spaces that have the latest in technology available to medical personnel. The clear objective is to take advantage of these types of resources for the benefit of patients.

The best smart hospitals in Latin America
For the third consecutive year, Newsweek magazine and the Statista database published a list with the best smart hospitals in the world. The result is named World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2024 And what is striking is that eight from Latin America appear among the first places.

In that sense, what is mentioned is that all the included hospitals use tools such as telemedicine, digital imaging and robotics. They also have cutting-edge equipment and the latest technology for use by medical personnel.
Last year in Saludiario we presented the same list with the best smart hospitals in Latin America. Although the same hospitals in Brazil and Mexico appear, what changed was the position.
Ranking with the best “smart hospitals” in Latin America (2023 edition)
In the previous edition the best position was for Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital which was in 40th place and is now in 37th place, which implies that it rose three steps.
With respect to Mexicans, the only ones who were included are ABC Medical Center Observatory Campus and the Médica Sur Hospital although both had a setback. The first was in 285th place and the second in 292nd, while now they are in 307th and 312th, respectively.
