In one of the weirdest but funniest marketing moves, the folks at McDonald’s in China has begun selling a partition of its Chicken McNuggets that is capable of running the legendary game of Tetris. But the stuff isn’t as gross or cyberpunk as anyone might imagine.
There is this popular idea that DOOM It is a video game that can run on everything. But before the arrival of this title with graphics that imitate 3D environments, the true king of that obsession was Tetris.
A game so basic and addictive that during the 80s and 90s we saw it run on basically any type of device that had a simple monochrome LED screen.
Later, with the launch of portable devices such as the Game Boy, the creation of the aforementioned DOOM, and the eventual birth of the smartphone, the furor and fixation for this title was lost.
But the global chain famous for its hamburgers has had a great and crazy idea, where they have not only revived this classic video game.
On top of that, they have put it inside one of their iconic chicken McNuggets, creating a device that inevitably refers us to the aesthetic that prevailed at the end of the last century.
This is the McDonald’s Tetris that runs on a chicken McNugget
It is likely that many do not know it, but the legendary Tetris game has an official account within Twitter. Where they are dedicated to disseminating news about the real franchise of the title and some curiosities.
In the most recent case. for example, they have shared the latest promotion of McDonald’s in China, where they are selling their boxes of McNuggets with a partition in the shape of this saucer that runs the legendary Tetris:
As we see in the images of the device, the video game device is modeled after a real box of Chicken McNuggets, integrating some McDonald’s themed stickers in the process.
It looks tempting, almost appetizing, but unfortunately the chicken piece-shaped video game is currently exclusive to restaurants in China.
To no one’s surprise, the game has become tremendously popular in that territory and immediately became a collector’s item and an object of desire for Tetris lovers.
But being an official distribution product in China, it has only become relatively expensive on the second-hand market.
Where the cheapest pieces of this video game are around USD $30 in the best of cases and without counting shipping costs.
