A few days ago we commented on how Technics wanted to make a strong comeback in the hi-fi sector after having been a bit forgotten for a few years. And this season he did it with the arrival of new HiFi speakers in tower and shelf format.
But the brand is also launching a new hifi amplifier top-of-the-range for stereo music lovers looking for state-of-the-art yet retro-looking equipment.
Is he SU-G700M2, a model with technology JENO Engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise-Shaping Optimization) and that promises to adapt to any speaker we already have at home using the LAPC system (Load Adaptive Phase Calibration). It is an adaptive loudspeaker impedance optimization algorithm that corrects the ideal impulse response through digital signal processing, calculating the amplitude and phase characteristics of the amplifier with the loudspeakers that we have once connected.
The equipment has a nice retro finish reminiscent of stereo amplifiers from the 70s of the last century, with two large power meters on the front and a clean, minimalist design without garish lights or dozens of front buttons and connectors. Only an input selector, headphone output and wheel-type volume knob with aluminum finish have been installed.
The construction of the device is based on three sections with partitions installed between the blocks of the circuit according to the level of signal that is handled, thus eliminating the interferences between blocks. Additionally, the amplifier includes a lower chassis featuring a two-layer construction with 1.2mm and 2mm thick steel plates, a top panel consisting of 1.6mm thick steel plate, and a front panel 7mm thick aluminum to improve vibration damping.
The amplification power offered to the speakers is 2×70 watts RMS with 8 ohm loads (1 kHz, 0.5% THD, 8 ohm and 20 kHz LPF) or 2×140 watts RMS if we connect 4 ohm speakers (1 kHz, 0.5% THD, 4 ohm and 20 kHz LPF).
We have RCA analog input ports, a MC phono input and another MM for turntables, two coaxial digital inputs and two other digital optical inputs as well as a USB-B port to connect to a PC.
Price and availability
The new amplifier Technics SU-G700M2 will go on sale from October for a price that will be around 2,299 euros finished in silver and black.
