In a very simple way, this teacher made clear the importance of clean hands.
It occurred to Donna Gill Allen, a teacher from North Carolina, that she had to find a graphic way to teach her students the importance of washing their hands so as not to get ill and why they should make this practice a habit. What he didn’t expect was for his experiment to go viral.
The experiment had three phases. Donna first wore gloves to put a slice into a sandwich bag, setting the pattern for control. Afterward, he washed his hands to proceed to place another piece of bread in his own bag and labeled it clean. Finally, he asked all of his students to touch the third slice with dirty hands before putting it in the bag. He let time pass and I saw how the last slice, the one everyone had touched with dirty hands, was full of mold, while the other two seemed fresh, without any alteration.
