Living traditions of the Totonac culture
The Totonac is an ethnic group that preserves its customs, rituals and language to date, with a strong pre-Hispanic presence. According to the chronicles, it is known that they migrated from Central Mexico to the Gulf Coast in the year 800 AD, and although there is no agreement among researchers as to whether the heyday of Tajín was due to them, it is known that when that region declined, they occupied a wide territory from the center of Veracruz to the east of Puebla.
