The World Health Organization, decreed this Friday that the coronavirus, is already considered a global public health emergency, and so far, this pandemic originated in China, has left 170 dead and about 8 thousand affected, since its appearance.
As announced by the international organization, forced marches are already being carried out in the vaccine that helps eradicate this deadly virus that attacks the immune system of human beings, with the aim of preventing further contagion and helping the rest of the world avoid outbreak propagation in other latitudes.
The first case of coronavirus that has been registered, occurred in the town of Wuhan, China, apparently, within a local market, unleashing hundreds of similar events that have killed many people caused by the so-called ” Pneumonia of Wuhan ”, for the city where the outbreak originated.
After the global alert that has revealed the highest health institution in the world, the question is: How does this virus attack the body ?, which was answered by a team of doctors who have been in direct contact with this epidemic in Jinyintan hospital in Wuhan.
The symptoms
A detailed analysis of the first 99 patients treated at the site, revealed that they all presented symptoms similar to pneumonia, since their lungs were severely inflamed, and the alveoli, which are the tiny sacs where oxygen carries air to The blood was filled with water.
The other symptoms were fever, cough, shortness of breath, muscle pain, confusion, headache, and sore throat.
In this way, the first two patients to die were apparently healthy, however, both affected were long-term smokers, which would have weakened their lungs that were subsequently severely attacked by the virus, leading them to death days later.
Thus, from January 25 until Friday 31, of the 99 patients, 57 of them were still in the hospital, 31 more were discharged and the remaining 11 died, although this does not mean that the mortality rate of the disease It is only 11% since some of the patients who are still in the hospital can also die.
Of course, many other affected patients have mild symptoms that do not warrant hospitalization.
As mentioned earlier, it is believed that the coronavirus emerged within a seafood market in Wuhan, and the live animals sold here were the carriers of the virus that today puts the world on alert.
Of the first 99 patients examined with the symptoms of the virus, 49 of them had a direct connection to the market, before becoming ill. 47 people worked in the market, either in administrative work or attending jobs, and 2 more were buyers, so it is not a coincidence.
After the meeting of the WHO emergency committee, the director-general, Tedros Adhanom, indicated that the virus has already spread to about twenty countries, so he added that the coronavirus can spread more quickly if it reaches a territory with weak health system, so he called all nations of the world to “be prepared and act now.”
Also, the WHO director said that he is fully confident in China’s ability to contain the spread of this disease, and help the rest of the world avoid this dangerous virus.
In turn, the committee will issue recommendations that all countries may consider, such as retaining their flights to China, applying constant reviews to those who have been in this Asian country, and applying the necessary measures to prevent further cases of infection.
Baja California Sur free of the epidemic
After during the last hours health safety filters have been increased to prevent outbreaks of coronavirus in different regions of the Mexican Republic, in the state of Baja California Sur, no incidents have been reported for the new virus, according to the State Network of Epidemiological Surveillance, so that hospitals, health centers and laboratories of medical studies, remain on alert to carry out timely prevention and control actions, if required.
To strengthen this surveillance, the Ministry of State Health disseminated among all public and private medical units and at air, sea and land entry points, the epidemiological warning issued by the federal authority on the cases of Conoravirus registered in China.
In this official document, it is highlighted that only patients who present with fever, acute respiratory disease and who have a history of travel or stay in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, will be considered as suspect cases directly with a person diagnosed as a carrier of the virus.
Despite there being no cases of contagion in South California territory, the State Network of Epidemiological Surveillance remains attentive to the evolution and spread of the virus, after the World Health Organization declared a worldwide alert for this serious condition.
