A team of scientists from Switzerland conducted a study in which found that the sound therapy technique could help prevent nightmares when we sleep.
The research was published by the Current Biology Magazine and quoted in a report on the website of Third. The findings were determined by scientists from the Department of Basic Neurosciences at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva.
We have all had nightmares more than once, commonly reported as terrifying scenarios, persecutions, monsters, demons and even a tragedy of a loved one. All of them can be reversed, according to experts, or rather prevented.
The technique or treatment is based on train people to relive positive versions of their nightmare. After that, the scientists were in charge of play a sound related to a rewarding imaginary experienceemitted from a wireless headset while the volunteers slept.
The study was based on the monitoring of 36 patients, divided into two groups, who experienced sounds and who received trial imaging therapy.
The participants had to Create an association between a positive version of your nightmare and a noise daily during an imagination exercise.
Study Results
The result of the study reveals that scientists managed to reduce the frequency of nightmares with sound therapya technique that little by little will gain more weight in science.
Lampros Perogamvros, a psychiatrist at the Sleep Laboratory of the University Hospitals of Geneva and lead author of the research, said: “there is a relationship between the types of emotions experienced in dreams and our emotional well-being. Based on this observation, we had the idea that we could help people by manipulating emotions in their dreams.”.
All of the volunteers experienced a decrease in nightmares each week. However, those who received sounds had less for three months. The conclusion of the participants is that they had more joy in their dreams.
