When the children begin to grow, one of the activities that parents prefer the most is swimming. But we tell you why you should not only practice this sport!
The swimming is good for all ages and there is not much impact on muscles, strengthens and can save lives . But according to a study carried out by specialists from the F acult of Health Sciences and Sports of the University of Zaragoza in Spain , it was shown that the practice of swimming, unlike other impact sports, does not improve the bone mass of who practice it. This work, published in international scientific journals, highlights the importance that swimmers include in their training and jumping and strength exercises to improve their bone development.
The authors of this work, Germán Vicente Rodríguez and Alejandro Gómez Bruton, stress that it is important for children to start swimming as soon as possible due to the cardiorespiratory and muscular improvements that this sport has, but this activity must be complemented with other sports such as basketball or soccer to achieve significant increases in bone development .
Finally, the researcher Germán Vicente Rodríguez insists that the results of these studies should not discourage the practice of swimming, a discipline that has been shown to improve aerobic capacity, muscle strength and school performance , in addition to being one of the sports with lower incidence of injuries .
