With Home Decor heading into the final stretch before the closing on Sunday, May 22, and as usual, its traditional prizes and mentions were delivered yesterday, with sustainability and craftsmanship as the main protagonists.
As usual, the Casa Decor jury awards three prizes, for the Best Project, for the Best Integrated Design, and for the Best Product Design, in addition to two special mentions for each category, the special 30-year award, and the award voted by the public that has visited the Goya 89 building since it was inaugurated last April 6.
Best Project Award 2022: Espacio Wow Design “Unexpected Hammam” by Sumummstudio
The award for Best Project 2022 went to the Wow Design space “Unexpected Hammam”, by Sumummstudio, a sensory space that evokes calm and exudes sustainability thanks to its curved ceiling and that fantastic latticework that helps create a Mediterranean and artisanal atmosphere through the use of terracotta brick.
Mentions to the Best Project 2022
The first mention for the Best Project 2022 went to the LZF Lamps ‘Utopía’ Space, signed by Imanol Calderón and Marta Alonso, from Mayice Studio, with a modular space that presents an attractive design with a retro-futuristic, friendly and renewed aesthetic.
The Ron Matusalem Space “card room”, created by Marta Sánchez Zornoza, has won the 2nd Special Mention for the Best Project 2022. The space stands out especially for having recovered materials such as terrazzo and hydraulics that pre-existed in the space before being intervened, to be integrated into the design of this space with decadent airs that transports us to Old Havana, putting special emphasis on lighting.
Best Integrated Design
The area of Castilla La Mancha is an ode to craftsmanship. And within this space, the floor lamp by Tomás Alía and Estudio Caramba has won the Best Integrated Design Award. The lamp has an internal metallic structure, on which the leather plates made by the artisan Reyes García López are presented.
Mentions for Best Original Design 2022
During the visit to Casa Decor that the press carries out on the first day, many of us were struck by these fresqueras designed by José Manuel Gómez for Delta Cocinas. And now, this review of this food preservation system that has accompanied human beings for centuries has obtained this mention from the jury.
The 2nd Mention for Best Original Design 2022 is for the wall mural designed by Paloma de Gregorio, from Proyecto 15, within the LDK Living Outdoors space.
Best Integrated Product Design Award
The Award for Best Integrated Product Design 2022 has gone to the Convex Miapetra washbasins, from the Somos2Studio space. This space with a classic and natural air is ideal for relaxing, it has managed to place its sinks on the podium of the 2022 Casa Decor Awards thanks to an unconventional design that gives importance to stone and functionality.
Mentions for Best Integrated Product Design 2022
The first mention for Best Integrated Product Design is for a product that we already made at Decoesfera: Ecoplen fabrics. Fabrics that put bacteria and viruses at bay, cleaning and purifying the air, as well as self-cleaning with the sun’s rays. This fabric can be seen in spaces such as Alvic, designed by Héctor Ruíz Velázquez.
The second mention in this section is for BTcino’s ‘Linving Now’ mechanisms. Some mechanisms that offer a wireless and sustainable solution without forgetting the aesthetic part
The spaces most voted by the public
The most voted space by the visitors of Casa Decor 2022 has been the space of El Corte Ingles. A large space located on the top floor of the Goya building that has both interior areas and terraces. In these spaces, El Corte Inglés has captured a bright and Mediterranean atmosphere full of marine atmospheres and natural fibers.
the kitchen of Neolithdesigned by jean porsche, has been one of the most Instagrammed in this edition of Casa Decor. And that has been reflected in the vote of the visitors, who have placed this kitchen inspired by the Hamptons as the second most voted space by the public.
Curved shapes and natural materials are the protagonists of ‘Lo essential’, the project by Andreina Raventos which has been the third most voted space by visitors.
4 special honor awards
In addition, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Casa Decor, the organization of the exhibition has decided to give four honorary awards to the interior designers who have participated the most in Casa Decor, Diego Rodríguez, Héctor Ruiz Velázquez, Raúl Martins and Erico Navazo.
